'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date rumors 2018: 'PUBG' players expect a huge, Western-based Battle Royale mode

The much-anticipated game title from Rockstar this 2018, "Red Dead Redemption 2," will remind the fans of the things that made the "Red Dead" game series a huge hit. Likewise, the sequel to 2010's Western-themed action adventure game is expected to introduce some fresh contents to keep the players' interest at bay. One of the rumored new features of "Red Dead Redemption 2" is the Battle Royale mode, and some people who have been around with this game genre are expecting it to bring something new to the table.

Not every video game has featured the Battle Royale mode, which is why Rockstar reportedly introducing it via "Red Dead Redemption 2" has captured the fans' attention. In fact, even the pro players who have experience in the Battle Royale genre are hoping that Rockstar's take on this feature will deliver great results. In an interview with Red Bull, the team manager for "Player Unknown's Battlegrounds" at Ghost Gaming, Trey Bourne, expressed his thoughts on what the "Red Dead Redemption 2" Battle Royale should look like.

"Player Unknown's Battlegrounds" and "Fortnite" are considered to be among the trend-setters in introducing the Battle Royale mode in modern game titles. The success of this genre led to the arrival of around 30 games that will include Battle Royale, with "Red Dead Redemption 2" being one of them. Bourne, who is very much familiar with how the Battle Royale mode works in "PUBG," believes that Rockstar should take this as an opportunity to feature Western-based contents in this genre.

"The western portion will be the main selling point for players. Other than Miramar in 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds,' there isn't anything western about the current games that are in the Battle Royale genre," Bourne said. He also suggested that the Battle Royale mode in "Red Dead Redemption 2" should have around 20 to 32 players maximum, with players given a pistol or any weapon that can be easily obtained in the map.

As reported by Forbes, "Red Dead Redemption 2" will highlight new game modes aside from the Battle Royale. The other modes include Revive and Survive, which will pit two teams of players against each other within a limited time, with fallen members continuously revived until the end of the match. There is also the Money Grab mode, wherein each team should gather as many money bags as they can in order to win the match.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" will be released on October 26 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.
