"Red Dead Redemption" has been hailed as one of the greatest open-world games in the past decade, and while there have been rumors of a sequel in the past few years, nothing official has been announced. Finally breaking their silence, Rockstar Games have released a teaser image hinting that the sequel is indeed in the works.

Posting an image on Twitter, Rockstar Games showcased an image of a red banner with the company's logo in the center. There's notably no metadata for the post, and there is also no caption added to give players any hint on what it means.

Almost immediately after the image was posted on Twitter, it started appearing on the official site, on Instagram, and other Rockstar Games-related sites. Again, none of these official posts carry any metadata to give fans a hint of what it may be referring to.

However, the red color and the slightly faded aesthetic do appear to be a call back to the original logo of "Red Dead Redemption." Eurogamer also reports that the developers' last work was "Grand Theft Auto V" which launched in 2013, and it is likely that they will be working on "Red Dead Redemption 2" before working on the next "Grand Theft Auto" game. Leaks also indicate that the game might be a prequel instead of a sequel.

Screen Rant does point out that the teaser image may not even be for "Red Dead Redemption 2" but a possible remaster of the first game. This is very likely given that both the Xbox One and PS4 are getting upgrades, the Xbox One Scorpio and the PS4 Pro respectively, and because Nintendo is launching the NX console next year.

Rockstar Games has yet to confirm on if the teaser is indeed related to the franchise. They also remain mum on whether the teaser is for a remaster of the first game or an announcement for a sequel.
