Recent speculations suggest that the highly anticipated open-world Wild West game "Red Dead Redemption 2" might just be arriving soon. The first "Red Dead Redemption" game was released on May of 2010, with a then-new gameplay mechanic of being able to keep track of actions and reputation. This mechanic also decided how the game's non-playable characters interacted with players, whether they treat you them someone with a good or a bad reputation.

The original "Red Dead Redemption" tells a story about John Marston, a hired assassin who started working for the government after they took his family hostage. His targets included people who he once worked with to fight against the same government that he is working for. However, nobody has any idea whether the new game will be a sequel or a prequel.

According to Inquisitr, initial rumors suggest that "Red Dead Redemption 2" was supposed to get an official announcement this past Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016, but apparently this was postponed due to recent events. The supposed trailer was expected to feature a gunman walking inside a saloon and shooting all the patrons, which considering the recent Florida shooting, would have been in bad taste. Rockstar Games has yet to confirm anything, or even announce a title for the new game.

Ever since the original "Red Dead Redemption" got a version released with backwards compatibility for the Xbox One, they have experienced commercial success. It would have been an ideal time for Rockstar Games to officially announce a sequel, but nobody knows yet whether this is going to happen. If they do confirm the sequel, it is said to most likely feature Jack, John's son. It might also instead be a prequel where the gamer will learn how John became an outlaw in the first place. Since this might not be about John at all, Trusted Reviews mentions that it could be possible the title won't be "Red Dead Redemption 2", but something else altogether.

Rockstar already confirmed that the are "working on exciting future projects that will be revealed soon". They have also mentioned that they have been working on "the next version of a famous IP" ever since 2010. This will most likely refer to "Red Dead Redemption", which was released in May of that year.

Speculations from Mobile & Apps also suggest that Tke Two might instead have skipped the Electronic Entertainment Expo event so that they could reveal the new game at the coming Gamescom in August. Take-Two appears to already have occupied two separate booths for this coming Gamescom 2016. If it does release, fans are to expect larger maps, more character interaction, smoother gaming performance and higher visuals for the new game.

Breathecast mentions that the studio may also be working on something new altogether, which might be something else for gamers to look forward to. The initial story's ending was already satisfying on its own. Thus the developers might be avoiding any unnecessary backlash with a game that would be sub-par. They have also kept mum about any hints regarding this on social media.

If they do deide to create a sequel, we hope that it will be as great as the original. For now, the release date for "Red Dead Redemption 2" is yet to be announced by the developers.
