With the Gamescom only a couple of days away, expectations run high for the "Red Dead Redemption 2" to be unveiled at the event.

Neither Rockstar Games nor its parent company Take-Two Interactive has confirmed the existence of the game, but it is expected that the series will be revisited soon.

Rockstar has already said that "Red Dead" is much like a franchise as "Grand Theft Auto" is, which means that more installments of the western shooter series can be expected. Also, with the success of the first game, "Red Dead Redemption 2" was expected to happen sooner or later.

New reports have indicated that the sequel may finally be announced at Gamescom after the no-show of the game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), much to the disappointment of fans.

Rockstar has denied the reports that "Red Dead Redemption 2" was supposed to be presented there, but was cut the last minute in respect to the victims of the Orlando shooting victims as it had clips insensitive to the tragedy.

Also, Take-Two promised that they will be at the E3 in a "big way," but ended up with gameplay for "Days Gone" and nothing more. The company also said that Rockstar will reveal its next projects "soon."

It certainly was not as soon as the E3, but it might be as soon as this month at Gamescom. Take-Two's participation there had many thinking that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will finally see the light of day.

However, with Rockstar's history in making announcements about big game launches such as "GTA 5" via their website only, there is also the possibility that the studio might go the same route for "Red Dead Redemption 2."

However, it would not hurt to tune in to Gamescom to see what Take-Two has in store there. The convention is scheduled on Aug. 17 to 21 in Cologne, Germany.
