Rumors continue to come in about the existence of the "Red Dead Redemption 2," the sequel to the hit open world, western action-adventure video game that developer Rockstar released in 2010.

The game studio has already said that it takes them years to put out new iterations of their most popular titles, and considering that it has already been six years since the first installment came out, there's a reason to believe a sequel is close by.

In fact, there are some speculations that Rockstar will finally make "Red Dead Redemption 2" official later this year. The game studio will reportedly announce the game's development in the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo in June.

After the announcement, gamers will reportedly have to wait for a few more months before the title officially becomes available. Word on the street is that it will formally hit the shelves by October of this year.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" has fans talking and anticipating for years already. In 2014, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick talked about "Red Dead Redemption" being a franchise that Rockstar will nurture in the years to come.

"It's obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat," Zelnick said as quoted by Gamespot.

The original game's impressive performance in all aspects of the trade also suggests that "Red Dead Redemption 2" is a no-brainer. Critics like IGN and Metacritic almost always give the western action a perfect score, and Rockstar has sold more than 13 million copies of the game. It has received various awards, and it is also what Xbox One players want to play on the new-gen console.

If the rumors are to be believed, "Red Dead Redemption 2" should be a real thing come June.
