Many gamers are hoping that "Red Dead Redemption 2" would be the next title to be made official by developer Rockstar, and it looks like the highly-anticipated title would materialize soon.

In one poll, game developer/ publisher Ubisoft asked players to choose from a list of games, asking which one makes them excited or which one they look forward to playing. Some of the choices include "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3," "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," "Batman: Arkham Knight," and "Halo 5: Guardians." There was also a box next to "Red Dead Redemption 2," waiting to be ticked.

It is unknown, however, if the title's inclusion in the poll means that the game studio is actually working on it. Express.uk said that the hoped-for game was included because it is one of the most popular games based on rumors. The site also noted the presence of a "Titanfall" sequel, which takes up a big place in gamer heaven.

The game has yet to be announced by Rockstar, the developer of the acclaimed original. Should "Red Dead Redemption 2" be Rockstar's newest pursuit, rumor mills say (courtesy of a Reddit user claiming to be an ex-Rockstar staff) that it will bear the subtitle "The Legends of the West."

Crossmap reported that the game will no longer be about John Marston. Instead, it will be set in Japan with a Ronin as the protagonist. The site added that it will likely be a nod to the 1961 Japanese classic titled "Yojimbo," a film directed by Akira Kurosawa that still resonates to this day.

Whether or not "Red Dead Redemption 2" is currently in the works, fans are still hoping for it to come out next year. They are also hoping that the original title would be up for the Xbox One's backward compatibility.
