The long wait for the second installment of the "Red Dead Redemption" action-adventure game is far from over as news about its possible release date remains scarce.

Players of the critically acclaimed Western-themed open world action adventure video game were requesting for the continuation of the game under the "Red Dead" series, but game developer Rockstar San Diego and publisher Rockstar Games have yet to drop news regarding the developments of the title's continuation.

But speculations claim that "Red Dead Redemption 2" is really happening, and it will introduce a couple of new characters. According to Latinos Health, the sequel of the popular game featuring John Marston might be unveiled during the upcoming E3 Expo, which will be held between June 14 to 16 in Los Angeles.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick earlier explained to Express UK that franchises like "Red Dead Redemption" take time to get a new installment.

"The market asks us, 'Why don't you annualize your titles?' We think with the non-sports titles, we are better served to create anticipation and demand," Zelnick revealed. "On the one hand to rest the title and on the other hand to have the highest quality in the market, which takes time. You can't do that annually."

However, Zelnick assured fans of the franchise that a new installment will come out soon.

Meanwhile, other reports claimed that "Red Dead Redemption" will soon be playable on the Xbox One via its backwards compatibility feature. The speculations began when the game's cover title was posted on the Xbox Arabica forum.

But a statement from Microsoft's program manager Richard Irving in November said that the reason why the game was not included in the Backwards Compatibility list is because of licensing issues.

Rockstar Games has yet to confirm if "Red Dead Redemption" will be released on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 soon.
