'Reign' season 3 spoilers: Mary against Queen Elizabeth; Bash and Mary getting together?

Reign The CW

"Reign" season 2 ended on a high note with a climactic finale that also showed Mary and Francis getting back together. The official synopsis for season 3 has been released and the few lines it offers gives some great detail on what fans should expect from the upcoming season.

The most obvious reveal is that Mary and Queen Elizabeth will be battling each other even more intensely this time around. The synopsis reveals that Queen Elizabeth's court will be introduced so all of her advisors, foes and allies within her castle walls will become mainstays for this season.

According to the synopsis, even Elizabeth has people doubting her simply because she is a woman and many during that period doubt if a woman can rule an entire country. Thus, the people whispering in her ear at court could either be trying to help her or attempting to ruin her entirely.

It is also possible that, because of her gender, Elizabeth will be forced to fight Mary simply because that is what their roles and status require of them.

The synopsis explains, "The women have much in common and Mary and Elizabeth are reluctant foes, but foes nonetheless, each positioned by birth and fate to destroy all the other holds dear."

According to a report from Design and Trend, season 3 may also see Bash and Mary getting together, despite the latter reuniting with her husband Francis only recently. The report points out that Francis is still very sick and is most likely going to bite the dust, giving the Mary and Bash relationship a chance.

Torrance Coombs, who plays Bash, explained in the report, "I'm on board with the long-game between Mary and Bash if that plays out. Let's give people some hope. Let's just say Bash is playing the long-game."

"Reign" season 3 is set to premiere this October.
