The continuing saga of "Reign" will be airing soon, and fans of the royal court drama are again expecting a lot of twists, political maneuverings, and plenty of romance for the third season.

Entertainment Weekly had a chance to sit back with "Reign" show co-creator Laurie McCarthy, who revealed that those events leading to the appearance of England's Queen Elizabeth at the end of season 2 will impact much of the upcoming affairs of both country and heart.

As the third season will introduce "Reign" to the Elizabethan court, there will be a host of new characters and love interests that fans will love and follow. According to speculations, there will be of a new love interest for Greer, played by Celina Sinden. She will meet a new love that, according to McCarthy, is '"sexy and adorable." While there are some rumors that this love interest will turn out to be a pirate, others think that it will be with a new English nobleman.

Meanwhile, it is also confirmed that another character will take center stage. William, to be played by Tom Everett Scott, is a trusted advisor to the English Queen. William will also appear opposite Robert Dudley, a new historical love interest for Queen Elizabeth. The monarch will be entangled in a love triangle between Robert, whom she'd known since childhood, and his wife Amy.

Meanwhile, one of the very first appearances on the Elizabethan court will be an unlikely ally for the Queen.

McCarthy revealed, "There's a guest at English court and that is Catherine de Medici."

Medici, portrayed by Megan Follows, will be a staunch supporter of the Queen.

"... And Catherine is good at being someone's advocate and much like she was Francis' advocate, she goes over there and she strikes up a very personal alliance with Elizabeth," said the showrunner.
