The third season of "Reign" will pick up a few months after the season 2 finale and will see a different court. The show will be focusing on Elizabeth's (Rachel Skarsten) court in England and Mary's (Adelaide Kane) life in France.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Laurie McCarthy said that though fans will still get to see Mary, the show will be "cutting away to Elizabethan court."

"Season 3 feels global, and I think global in their times meant expanding to looking around at what's going on in Spain and the Netherlands and specifically the court of Elizabeth," said McCarthy. The showrunner said that Elizabeth's back story will be told in the same way as Mary's story was in season one. But as viewers will get to see Mary a little bit later in her role, fans will see an older and more "sophisticated" queen.

And while fans think that Elizabeth is out to get Mary, Skarsten told EW that she thinks her character doesn't have that much hate for Mary. However, she feels "incredibly threatened by the fact that Mary is a queen and has a stake to her throne, but I think she very much doesn't want to kill Mary or bring harm to her."

Skarsten hopes that the new season will make fans see Elizabeth in a new light, and not just as Mary's foe.
"I wanted to make sure that people rooted for Elizabeth, that they didn't just love to hate her," said the actress.

Meanwhile, things will take a bew turn for Francis (Toby Regbo) and Mary as the Prince's illness has returned. McCarthy said that because Francis thinks that his death is imminent, he and Mary are going to make decisions based on the belief that their time together is limited. The showrunner revealed that Francis' health condition will make the couple "take some short cuts that they wouldn't take otherwise."

"Reign" season 3 premieres on Friday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
