The new season of classic royal drama "Reign" is set to air on The CW this week.

With the premiere episode nearing its air date, industry observer TVLine posted new promo images from the upcoming season. Some of them showcase a new character – Saamer Usmani as Martin de Lambert. However, not much is seen about what de Lambert is all about, and it is still up in the air whether the dashing gentleman is a villain or not.

In addition to the set photos, another report by the webste shared some spoiler tidbits to fans, in particular about Lord Narcisse, played by Craig Parker. "Though he hasn't always been an ally to Mary and Francis, he'll prove most useful when their enemies begin plotting against them. As for Lola, Narcisse remains intent on winning her over, no matter the cost," the report said.

Meanwhile, the on-going relationship between Mary and Francis, despite his failing health, will also be showcased in the upcoming season. In a report by Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Laurie McCarthy said that the relationship will be made stronger by the King's illness, and fans who ship "Frary" will see more of the couple in the upcoming season.

"I think he and Mary will soon come to make decisions really believing that his time is limited, and what that's going to give you is an incredible poignancy to their relationship and it's also going to light a fire under both of them to achieve some things and to maybe take some short cuts that they wouldn't otherwise take," McCarthy said.

In addition to love, the drama and political intrigue from the previous seasons will also make it to the upcoming one, with consequences of actions, such as Elizabeth's harboring Catherine, rearing its head as early as the second episode.

The season 3 premiere will be shown this Friday, Oct. 9 at 8/7 c.
