An unexpected twist happened toward the end of the previous episode of "Reign" season 3, when Queen Elizabeth of England (Rachel Skarsten) announced the heir to her throne. But things will get more complicated in the next episode of the series.

No one expected to hear Elizabeth name Mary, Queen of Scots (Adelaide Kane) as her successor to the throne. But according to Kane, this signifies the start of Mary's new journeys that will lead to the next season.

"It's a whole new chapter, a whole new country and a whole new court," Kane told TVLine. "There will be new friends and new enemies. We're gearing up for some really big storylines in Season 4. Mary's life didn't even really start until she got to Scotland; that's when things really kicked off for her. France was a lovely interlude, but it was only a small part of her life."

In the upcoming episode, Mary must decide if she should save Elizabeth's life. But if she chose to do so, she will unconsciously endanger Gideon's (Ben Geurens) life. This will lead to a series of other events, which will require her to go to another Englishman named Robert Dudley (Charlie Carrick) for help.

Meanwhile, Bash (Torrance Coombs) will do everything that he can to catch the men responsible for threatening Catherine (Megan Follows). But since season 3 is about to draw to a close, this could mean that it will be one of the Bash's last adventures.

Kane talked about Coombs upcoming exit in the interview, saying: "It's a bummer, but Bash doesn't have a lot of traction in Scotland," the actress said. "His storyline soon will come to its conclusion, and his character has other avenues to explore that might not necessarily be on screen."

"Reign" season 3 episode 13 airs Monday, May 9, on The CW.
