Viewers will see the action move to Queen Elizabeth's (Rachel Skarsten) home country when The CW series "Reign" returns for its third season.

Entertainment Weekly reports that a new court will be added in the upcoming installment, as some of the scenes will be shot in England. Showrunner Laurie McCarthy revealed that the jump will not be occurring every episode and that Mary's (Adelaide Kane) life will still be set in France. Still, she said that the change will be significant to the story, as a number of characters will be moving between courts as well.

"Season 3 feels global. When we get to the court of Elizabeth, I was excited to play the more intimate personal stories for Elizabeth just like we did for Mary when we were first meeting her," McCarthy said.

Meanwhile, Skarsten said that viewers will perceive Elizabeth as less of a villain now that they will get to see the queen in her natural element. She shared that while most understand her character as Mary's foe, she is also incredibly insecure.

Skarsten shared, "She's just this incredibly accessible flawed human being so we get to see the dichotomy of those two things and it's been interesting to play. I feel a little bit schizophrenic: one minute I'm the queen and then I'm crying."

The actress also revealed that because Elizabeth is still a child, she is susceptible to Catherine's (Megan Follows) manipulations. In her belief, the Queen of England is not entirely power hungry and do not wish Mary to die. She said that it's just Elizabeth's anxieties that make her suspect Mary's intention.

Meanwhile, TV Over Mind reports that if Elizabeth and Catherine are conspiring to take down Mary, the latter also has her support group in the person of Francis (Toby Regbo), Bash (Peter Jorgensen), Lola (Anna Popplewell), and Greer (Celina Sinden). In a photo released by The CW, the five can be seen standing together, as if united by a common goal to defend the kingdom.

"Reign" will return on Friday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
