The saga that centers on the life of Mary, Queen of Scots, will continue in season 4 of "Reign." One of the details that fans are waiting for is when the season will begin to unfold.

"Reign" was renewed for a fourth season back in March, three months before the third run ended. However, no release date has yet been announced. But looking back into the series' three-year history, the premiere of each season was scheduled in October, so many fans are speculating that season 4 just might debut in the same month this year.

However, according to Breathecast, "Reign" season 4 might begin airing in early 2017. This is reportedly because the CW is prioritizing its other shows, such as "iZombie," "The Originals," and "The 100," which have gained ratings higher than the historical fantasy drama. Moving the schedule of "Reign" is said to minimize the competition among these shows, which are targeting the same audience. Should this be the case, the report speculates that Mary and the rest of the French and English royal courts will return in March or April next year.

The same report says that the fourth season of "Reign" might not even start airing until May 2017 to avoid competing with the highly successful "Game of Thrones" on HBO.

It is still a long wait for fans, but they can expect some new twists when the show returns. For instance, Torrance Coombs, who plays the role of Bash, will no longer be in season 4. The actor is now part of a new series on ABC titled "Still Star-Crossed."

Meanwhile, English actor Will Kemp will appear in three episodes, according to Deadline. He will portray Lord Darnley, an English nobleman who would later become Mary's second husband.

Filming has reportedly begun, so it can expected that more information about "Reign" season 4 will surface in the upcoming months leading to its premiere.
