"Reign" has been off the air for a long while, but fans should not fret because the CW has confirmed that the show is moving forward with season 4. It has now been confirmed that the series' fourth season is going to premiere on Feb. 10, 2017.

According to Release-Date, the series' third season premiered with 0.948 million viewers. The rest of season 3 managed to hold steady ratings, and for this reason, the show had been renewed for a fourth season. Unfortunately, very little is known about season 4 at this point.

Back when season 4 was announced, actress Adelaide Kane explained to Entertainment Weekly that her character Mary would no longer be weak and naive.

"She's a lot more self-sufficient. She's not as weak as she used to be. I think she's still a little naïve, still a little rash, but she's really had to learn how to stand on her own two feet. She's learned to fend for herself in a way that she was completely incapable of doing initially," she stated at the time.

Kane also explained that Mary's departure for Scotland would also affect Catherine (Megan Follows). Kane stated that at first Catherine would feel like Mary's departure would not affect her much, but it turns out that she needs Mary more than she initially believed.

The actress also explained that Mary is merely waiting for an excuse to kill Narcisse (Craig Parker). According to her, Mary is only letting Narcisse go because Mary's friend is in love with him.

However, given that the ratings are declining ever since the show first started, there are rumors that season 4 may be the final season for the show. The CW has been cutting down on several shows, such as "The Vampire Diaries" which is in its final season, and it is likely that "Reign" will follow suit if season 4 does not raise the bar.
