Reloaded Games made a sad announcement on their Facebook page on Oct. 2. They announced that their mech first-person shooter video game "Hawken" will leave PC platforms after New Year 2018.

"Pilots, it's been an incredible journey since the introduction of Hawken on Steam, back in 2014. The game's success has been largely due to your continuous support. The Hawken community has been the cornerstone of this ever-evolving franchise," read the official statement from Hawken Entertainment.

"After 3 great years, we are shutting down the PC Steam servers to refocus our development efforts. The PC game will officially be removed on January 2, 2018, and all DLC and purchasable content will also be unavailable starting today. It's been an incredibly rewarding experience working alongside such a dedicated PC player base. Your feedback and support has been invaluable to us, and the team looks forward to creating more great games based on what we've learned from you. Thank you all very much for your support!" added the post.

"Hawken" was known to be one of the first video games to be compatible with modern virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs). Initially created by developer Adhesive Games, all game rights were eventually transferred to Reloaded games back in March 2015.

"Hawken" was also released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (PS4) consoles in early July last year, and it remains to be seen whether the game is also going to be shut down on those consoles. Many think that the "development efforts" the game developers are talking about pertain to their focus in creating exclusive console games, but so far Reloaded Games has yet to comment on the issue.

Intended to be a mech-based first-person shooter video game, players assume the role of a pilot in a human-colonized planet in the vast future, as they struggle to fight for limited resources. Players have to control a biped battle mech full of weapons with unlimited ammunition, and can choose between various game modes.
