While most fans are eagerly awaiting the release of an official remake of "Resident Evil 2" from Capcom, one of them decided to take matters into his own hands and came up with his own version of the hit horror survival game's reboot. 

The fan named Rod Lima managed to complete his version of the 1998-released game that he had been developing since April 2014. However, his version will not be available to the public since he only built the game using Unreal Engine 3.  Besides, rights belong to Capcom and, according to Lima, he built it mainly for learning purposes. 

The fan-made version made use of the character modes and animations that were taken from the previously released editions of "Resident Evil" games. According to Lima, all those components belong to the game's publisher. 

"I own nothing here except the UnrealScript that I wrote. Everything else belongs to their respective owners," the fan-made reboot maker posted in YouTube. 

Lima came up with the concept of his "Resident Evil 2" version from the Wii shooter game "Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles." He also added some original effects and cutscenes from the game, as well as an over-the-shoulder technique that resembles the style of "Resident Evil 4." However, the reboot maker later on decided to use the original fixed camera of the game. 

"Resident Evil 2" is the second installment made for the "Resident Evil" series. It is set in a fictional community called the Raccoon City where the residents are transformed into zombies by a biological weapon known as the T-virus. The game focuses on the adventures of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they face the hurdles of combating threats, puzzle solving, and exploration. 

At the moment, Capcom has no plans of coming up with a sequel to "Resident Evil 2," but they are reportedly willing to make one if the clamor for it remains strong. The only remake that the gaming company released recently is for the original "Resident Evil" game.
