The seventh installment of the "Resident Evil" franchise will have a cross-save feature between the Xbox One and PC Windows. Meanwhile, "Biohazard" was inspired by the first ever "Resident Evil" game released.

Capcom will be releasing the seventh installment in the "Resident Evil" franchise β€” titled "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" β€”on January 24, 2017. According to Geek, the game will be made available for PC Windows, PlayStation 4 with VR support, and Xbox One.

IGN revealed that "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will have a cross-save feature wherein gamers can transfer their game saves between the Xbox One and PC Windows. This feature caused speculations from the gaming community that "Resident Evil 7" might be part of Microsoft's Xbox Play Anywhere program.

The cross-save feature is essentially a key feature of Xbox Play Anywhere which allows players to purchase a game available to two different platforms for one price. But there has been no confirmation if the game is part of the list of third party games that will allow players to benefit from the Play Anywhere program.

Meanwhile, "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard's" protagonist is a man named Ethan looking for his missing wife, according to Express. Ethan will lack combat skills β€” unlike the previous battle-ready protagonists of the "Resident Evil" games β€” and will be facing more gore and gruesome violence.

In an interview with Yugatech, "Resident Evil" game producer Masochika Kawata shared that "Biohazard" was inspired by the first ever game in the franchise.

"It was the first time that they were making something, so we're capturing that same feeling. For example, when you remake something, the main goal is to refine it, to build on what's there. For RE1, it's about making something new," explained Kawata.

In terms of being open-ended, Kawata shared that "Biohazard" will have a more linear direction, so there will be no chapters in the game. But rooms will be activated as saving points, and the difficulty level will influence how the game will save the player's progress.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will be released on January 24, 2017.
