PlayStation VR might be the only virtual reality (VR) platform for "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" for a year.

A fan recently noticed an ad for the upcoming survival horror video game on Facebook and posted the observation on Reddit. According to the ad, the VR version of "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will be exclusive to PlayStation VR for 12 months. This could mean that those who want to play the game using Oculus Rift or HTC Vive must wait until 2018 so that the game's timed exclusivity to PlayStation VR expires.

The fan's observation might be true, based on the statement of a Capcom representative posted on PC Gamer. According to the game developer's representation, "Resident Evil 7 Biohazard will be available for PlayStation VR at launch on 24th January, 2017." The rep also added that "Capcom has not confirmed any other VR formats at this time."

Sony could benefit from the reported timed exclusive deal with Capcom for the VR version of "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard." This will allow the game console maker to offer exciting game titles exclusively to beat the competition. Some of the confirmed PlayStation VR titles include "Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR," "Gran Turismo Sport," and "Batman: Arkham VR."

While waiting for the game's launch in 2017, Capcom will release a PlayStation VR-exclusive demo for "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" as soon as the VR console comes out on the market on Thursday, Oct. 13. This will reportedly feature the events happening inside the kitchen of the Baker family plantation mansion.

An earlier demo titled "Beginning Hour" was also exclusively released for Sony's PlayStation 4, which can be downloaded by PlayStation Plus subscribers through PlayStation Store.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will be the 11th installment of the "Resident Evil" series. The upcoming game will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Jan. 24, 2017.
