RethinkingMission.org - a Showcase for Missiology

This new website, sponsored by USPG and the Methodist Church, compiles together articles on mission studies to showcase new thinking on missiology.

In the same way that many other professions use journal databases to share their experiences and knowledge, so too the rethinkingmission journal site will gather Christian thinking and experiences from around the world.

For example, one of its recent articles is written by a clinical psychologist, Gladys K Mwiti. From the ground in Rwanda, she calls the Churches to provide simple comfort to the many suffering mentally from the genocide.

"Although many Christians pray for peace, little work has been done in developing specific ways for the church to address mass trauma" she reports.

In this way the website will provide free, regular information to a wide range of people seeking new thinking about the theology of mission.

Another article, 'A look at the British Church and society from a ‘third eye’', by Jonathan Gichaara, of the Methodist Church of Kenya holds up a mirror to society and church in Britain from an outsider's perspective:
|AD|
"A person from a different social cultural background looking at a ‘guest culture’ will be impacted by that culture in ways that the natives are not" he begins

"It is almost unheard of, for example, in Africa, that there could be a congregation of fewer than ten people and most of them in their seventies and eighties."

Such views will aim to provide enlightening perspectives of Christians from around the world.

Book Reviews are also compiled, with it possible to send in your recommendations for review to the Editor. Stephen Croft's Evangelism in a Spiritual Age comes highly recommended:

"If you are concerned to see God’s kingdom grow in our society, you will be encouraged and energised by reading this book" writes Christabel Ager

"The research is of good quality; the analysis careful and the reflections are objective and challenging. Order your copy now!"

There will also be future opportunity to sign up for email newsletters, alerting you to new articles on the site. The website is also set to feature a photo and image gallery, with links to other mission research websites.
