'Rick and Morty' season 3 is now finally over, but some fans have not accepted it fully, and new fan theories insinuate that there are more episodes for the third installment. 

A Reddit post from user TheMistling posited that episode 10 of season 3, titled "The Rickchurian Mortydate," was not the final episode and even laid out evidence as to why. The poster claimed that this was not the first time that the show surprised its viewers, nor is it the first time that 14 episodes were intended for a season. Thus, viewers might get an additional episode or two in the coming weeks.

Apparently Dan Harmon, co-creator of the show, also implied in a YouTube interview that Evil Morty would also be appearing in the season finale. This did not happen in episode 10, supposedly the finale, and it left a lot of fans disappointed, so much so that a lot of them speculated that since Evil Morty was not present, it might not have been the final episode.

While 14 episodes were initially planned for season 3, Harmon previously stated that it would not be possible. However, fans are still hoping for a surprise next Sunday. Inverse discussed that the remaining four planned episodes may still be hanging about, and they speculated whether they might still get released or not.

Some fans also were not satisfied with the finale of the latest season since it seemed to have become a soft reboot of the show. Harmon also previously expressed that delays were due to his perfectionist tendencies, but viewers believe that season finale did not reflect this trait.

Should the current theories be proven wrong, fans are still hoping for a Christmas episode. In the outro for the season finale, Mr. Poopybutthole said to viewers that he'll see them again in a really long time, perhaps with a "Santa Claus beard." This has led fans to take it as a hint that a Christmas special may be in the works.

Still, viewers and fans should take the theory with a grain of salt, as no official announcements have been released.
