Speculations say that fans will have to wait long for season 3 of "Rick and Morty" since it is said that the new season will air no sooner than next year. However, the rumors that it will be an early 2017 premiere might be true as recording of the pilot episode of season 3 reportedly begins.

According to iDigitalTimes, recent tweets from Mike McMahan, who is a writer for the show, let it slip that the recording sessions have started for the third season. The recordings are currently ongoing for the upcoming season's pilot episode.

The industry follower surmised that if the timeline of the previous releases for the show is to be an indication, then the March 2017 premiere for "Rick and Morty" season 3 looks just about right. The layover between the first and second seasons of the show lasted about a year or so.

In addition, as it was also previously mentioned by McMahan that writing started as early as December last year, fans may expect an early 2017 outing for the new season.

Meanwhile, aside from the speculations on the release date, not much is known how "Rick and Morty" season 3 will take shape. According to Youth Health Mag, prevalent rumors mentioned that the writers may showcase the upcoming installment to be the comeback season for some old characters. If the writers are to incorporate fan predictions into the upcoming episodes, fans may expect to see Mr. Meeseeks and even Evil Eyepatch Morty, who is also speculated to be returning as the big bad in the upcoming season.

As fans wait for the third season, other "Rick and Morty" media are currently available. Just recently, a "Pocket Mortys" game was released. It is also said that spin-off comics are also set to circulate soon.
