Fans of the highly popular adult animated television series, "Rick and Morty," are still currently left in the dark in terms of when exactly the show would be coming back on air with its third season episodes. Majority of the rumors and reports are still very much conflicted on whether or not the show would be coming back anytime this year or perhaps sometime early next year.

According to the most recent rumors, the show will apparently be back with new episodes before the year ends. The reports also claimed that the scripts for the new episodes are actually now done and that it would only be a matter of time before the animation process is completed. If this is indeed true, then it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume that the new episodes might be coming out sometime in December.

With the proliferation of the rumored December release, one fan outright asked one of the writers of the show if there was any truth to the rumor. Strangely enough, one of the show's writers, Erica Rosbe, responded to the fan and mentioned that there was no air date yet and that the rumor was "a rumor started out of thin air."

To further debunk the 2016 release rumor, a Reddit user who claims to be a design assistant for the show mentioned that fans should not expect any new episodes any time soon. The discussion forum was of course filled with mixed reactions, but some fans were still hopeful that a 2016 release for "Rick and Morty" season 3 is going to happen.

Aside from conflicting rumors, what is currently known as of the moment is that the script for the new season is in fact already completed. This was confirmed by the show's writers, Sarah Carbiener and Erica Rosbe. The script has apparently already been handed off to the animators who are now working on finishing the production for the new episodes.
