By this time, it is no surprise that "Rick and Morty" will be coming back for its third season. However, the exact premiere date for season 3 is a different story.

Fans are still waiting for announcements from creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland about "Rick and Morty" season 3. Some reports have stated that the show won't be back until 2017, but other people are hoping that the new season will air this year. Unless, Harmon and Roiland drop the announcement, the premiere date remains a big question.

Den of Geek noted that it took more than a year between the end of season 1 and the beginning of season 2, so it's likely that it will also take about a year or so for the third season to return. Since an announcement has yet to be made, fans will just have to wait patiently and take comfort in the knowledge that the show has been renewed for another season. Otherwise, the team will delay the release even further as announced in their tweet last month.

"Every time we're asked when season 3 comes out we push it back a month. See you nerds in 2020," the Twitter post from "Rick and Morty" read.

Meanwhile, the creators of the Adult Swim animated series have already dropped some hints about what they want season 3 to bring to the table. With the success of "Rick and Morty" season 2, fans are looking forward to more fun and adventure in the next season, and Hawaii just might be part of it. "It's time to demand that the network allow us to draw the characters going to Hawaii," Harmon told IGN last year.

Harmon has also confirmed previously with Den of Geek that the writers' room for the third season is diverse. Speaking to the publication in November last year, he said, "We hired a bunch of new writers. There was a craving for a gender balance in the writers' room that we had never had, but I'm also very proud of the fact that we didn't compromise ourselves following that craving."
