Adult Swim's hit animated science fiction series "Rick and Morty" has been initially reported to return for its third season in 2017, but recent rumors suggest that the show will premiere earlier, leaving fans to expect the show to air just before 2016 ends.

It is said that the much-awaited third season of "Rick and Morty" will be aired this December when creators Dan Harmon and Justin Rolland stated that the scripts for "Rick and Morty" season 3 have already been finished. Despite the lack of a specific date as to when the show's third season will be airing, recent speculations suggest that the show will be premiering season 3 on Dec. 2.

"Rick and Morty" writers Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener recently revealed that they have finished the show's scripts back in September and are now awaiting feedback from Bardel Entertainment. What's more is that the writers also hinted that a screening will soon occur for "Rick and Morty" season 3.

Another thing that adds to the suspicion that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will be aired on Dec. 2 is the fact that "Rick and Morty" season 1 was also premiered on the same date.

Despite the unconfirmed rumor regarding the show's official air date, it is still expected to air its premiere episode along with three more episodes sometime this December.

As for "Rick and Morty" season 3's plot, it is said that since Rick has crushed Michael with his spaceship, Rick will be in hiding after he escapes the Federal Galactic Prison. For season 3, the Federal Government will continue to look for Rick as they try to sue him.

Fans can also expect a clear explanation as to how Rick actually escaped the Federal Galactic Prison in "Rick and Morty" season 3. Recent rumors suggest that Rick might have escaped prison with the help of Morty, Summer, or his ex-wife.

As of now, there is still no specific date set for the premiere date of "Rick and Morty," but the 14-episode third season is expected to air sometime this December.
