"Rick and Morty" fans are still hoping that the third season of the animated series gets to air before the year ends. The upcoming season will have a run of 14 episodes, the most number of episodes in a season in the history of the series.

The mad scientist, Rick Sanchez, and his grandson, Morty Smith, is expected to encounter darker and more complex stories in the next season. The show is also expected to get crazier and more chaotic than before, but fans will have to wait a little bit more, as mentioned previously by writer Mike McMahan.

Fans are still in the dark when it comes to its release date. Showrunners Roiland and Dan Harmon have been tight-lipped about the show's return. Avid viewers are really hoping that it goes back on air before the year ends, but there are also rumors that it could arrive by next year.

The last time that fans were able to hear an official update was back in July, during the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con, where the panel showed the excited fans a video clip that will arrive in the upcoming season. Grandpa Rick turned himself into a pickle and ended up in the sewers. The animated storyboards showed how Pickle Rick was able to find a way to attach cockroach parts to his body before fighting a horde of sewer rats. Though the premiere date was also never discussed.

In passing, the panel said that there is a possibility that an Interdimensional Cable plot could also happen in season 3, which is actually a sub-plot, but it would probably happen on one of the cable TV shows that Rick and Morty's family loves to watch.

Meanwhile, Roiland also talked about his love for VR and after several months has created the Squanchtendo Games. The VR game developing studio has recently unveiled its first game, Accounting, and will arrive soon on Steam for the HTC Vive VR headset. It will be offered for free.

As expected from the creator of "Rick and Morty," the game is weird, but fun. Gamers can dive into a VR world within the VR game.

It is speculated that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will arrive before 2016 ends.
