'Rick and Morty' fans are in for the shock of their lives, as Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, show's creators, reveal what the real identity of Mr. Poopybutthole is in the series.

In a video charity pitch for a non-profit organization called Omaze, Harmon stated that Mr. Poopybutthole, the lovable small and yellow family friend, is actually an adult Mr. Meeseeks. Mr. Meeseeks is a tall blue disposable genie who was featured in episode 5, "Meeseeks and Destroy" for season 1 of the show. Meeseeks grants one specific bidding of whoever wishes it from him and will disappear afterward.

"Mr. Poopybutthole... a lot of people don't know, is actually an adult version of Meeseeks — that's canon," says Harmon. As such, Mr. Poopybutthole's identity is now official, unless Harmon was simply trolling the fans.

The charity campaign that the two did showed an impromptu and rather improvised short "episode" of 'Rick and Morty' using action figures instead of the usual 2D animations. Roiland voiced both Rick and Morty as the latter pointed a gun at Rick until Mr. Poopybutthole (also voiced by Roiland) appeared and tried to cause "structural problems." Rick then strangled Mr. Poopybutthole to death for tricking them both and then proceeded to do a sloppy musical number. Roiland ended the episode with Morty confessing his love for Rick and Rick not reciprocating.

Roilan and Harmon then encouraged fans to join the Omaze charity they spearheaded. It is essentially a lottery for the fan base. The winner will be invited to the special DVD commentary of 'Rick and Morty' season 3, and they will be allowed to voice out their commentaries for every episode alongside Roiland and Harmon. One thing to note is that every donation for the lottery will proceed to the United We Plan campaign from Planned Parenthood and Omaze.

Regardless of whether the back story of Mr. Poopybutthole is authentic or something that Harmon just claimed out of nowhere, fans can take his word for it. Whether or not this revelation will reflect on the fourth season remains to be seen.
