'Rising Thunder': New game simplifies the classic fighting game formula

"Rising Thunder" is a new fighting game that aims to do away with all of the complicated elements of its predecessors.

According to Seth Killian, the man behind "Rising Thunder," most fighting games require too much time and effort from their players in order for them just to get a firm grasp of how the mechanics actually work. Players often have to learn various button combinations and other nuanced movements in order to pull off a specific skill, and according to Killian, that greatly takes away from time that players could be using to truly understand the game by formulating strategies that will enable them to beat their opponents.

It is Killian's desire to do away with the complicated mechanics of the fighting game and replace it with something simpler and more relatable, according to Polygon.

"Rising Thunder" aims to allow players to enjoy a different kind of fighting game by eliminating some of the elements that have made the more famous titles what they are. Instead of rewarding players by being able to memorize and execute complicated button combinations, "Rising Thunder" will require players to become more agile and more strategic in order to succeed.

Aside from promoting a new kind of style for the fighting game genre, "Rising Thunder" also has other features that its creator hopes will entice players to try it out. "Rising Thunder" is designed to be focused on online play right from the beginning so as to help make it become the first fighting game to truly utilize the medium to its greatest potential, according to PC Gamer.

"Rising Thunder" will also be free to play upon its release so as to mirror many of the other successful online personal computer (PC games). Sign-ups for the technical alpha of the game are already available, and the title is expected to launch on July 28.
