One character that the new season of "Riverdale" will focus on is Alice (Madchen Amick) and her past in the South Side. Meanwhile, Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead's (Cole Sprouse) romance might come to an end in season 2.

"Riverdale" had an early confirmation that they will be moving on to season 2, Deadline reports, which proves that The CW has confidence in the work of the series MVP producer, Greg Berlanti.

Although season 1 is currently ongoing and has yet to air its finale episode on May 11, the writers of "Riverdale" have already begun creating storylines for season 2. One of the storylines that will be explored in the new season is Alice's past.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared, "We learn in this episode is she's from the Southside, but stepped out of it and cleaned herself up and became the perfect [mother]. We're going to explore much more about what Alice's backstory is both in this season and in season 2."

Because of this big reveal, there are already rumors and speculations going around the web about Alice's past. One of them is that Alice may have had a kid before Polly (Tiera Skovbye), BuddyTV notes.

A wilder speculation is Alice's long lost child might be the woman pretending to be Ms. Grundy (Sarah Habel) since the fraud that Archie (KJ Apa) had inappropriate relations with has not yet been explored in the series.

Meanwhile, fan's favorite couple, Betty and Jughead, might be saying goodbye to their romance in "Riverdale" season 2.

Aguirre-Sacasa shared that the love triangle of Archie, Betty, and Veronica (Camilla Mendes) remains to be the heart of "Riverdale," and viewers should stay patient about seeing that storyline in play again.

With that said, Aguirre-Sacasa added, in reference to Betty and Jughead, "their relationship is going to be tested sooner rather than later."

"Riverdale" season 2 has no official release date yet.
