"Rock Band 4" players can crash the stage and play music to their hearts' content using last-generation instruments. Harmonix recently confirmed to IGN that the instruments for the previous iteration of the music video game will be compatible with the latest title. 

Those who hold concerts using the PS3 but want to move to the PS4 will simply have to plug in the dongle and they'll be ready to go, while those who will use the Xbox One coming from Xbox 360 to rock out and make some noise will need a special "low-cost" (but price still unannounced) adapter from Harmonix. 

Meanwhile, gamers can try using last-generation "Guitar Hero" instruments on "Rock Band 4." Although Harmonix has been working on the prospect since April this year, the game studio cannot assure the flawless compatibility of the peripherals as they are not native to the game. 

Since Harmonix is still working on making as many components usable in the new title as possible, the game studio will work on other instruments such the ION drum kits as they go through the process, and promises that they will update the gamers about it.

"Rock Band 4" is the ultimate rockfest that allows gamers to play from small to big performances starting in small pubs to full-on concerts. Players can go on world tours, and play gigs in the biggest stadiums. They earn a horde of screaming fans in the role-playing game on the way as they unlock more gear and earn big money. 

According to IGN, the instruments, although new, won't make players feel like they are using different instruments. The peripherals have the same vibe as the ones before, which will make players at home to the title, not to mention the 2,000 songs from previous titles still playable in the game. 

"Rock Band 4" will be released in fall. Here are the new songs in the game so far:
