After being out of circulation for several years, "Rock Band" is once again making news. Game company Harmonix made an announcement about a new game under development. This time, it will be co-published by a video game peripheral company called Mad Catz. The San Diego-based interactive entertainment company announced their deal with Harmonix that aims to provide a better gaming experience for future "Rock Band 4" players. 

In a post on Mad Catz's official website, Global PR Director Alex Verrey mentioned that they have been working with Harmonix on the latest installment of the highly popular "Rock Band" franchise. He also discussed some of the scope of their work for the upcoming game title. 

"We're proud to announce the extension of our agreement with Harmonix to co-publish Rock Band 4 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In addition to being the exclusive hardware manufacturer for all the new music game controllers, we'll also be working with Harmonix to co-publish the game – leading global sales, promotions and distribution," Verrey said. 

Mad Catz has been working with Harmonix since 2010 as the officially licensed controller provider for "Rock Band 3." Some of their products include a keyboard controller, a microphone controller, two guitar controllers, as well as drum kits. But their agreement has since expanded to include more responsibilities when they became a co-publisher. 

"Co-publishing the game allows us to work closer than ever before with Harmonix, delivering a seamless experience from game through hardware and ensuring we focus on the needs of the gamer first and foremost," Verrey explained. 

Meanwhile, Engadget posted a report saying that both Mad Catz and Harmonix are still working on making the old instruments from the early installments of "Rock Band" games to be compatible for the upcoming "Rock Band 4."

The game is expected to be launched in late 2015.
