"Rocket League," the sequel to the sports-like car battle royale "Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars," is now live both for PC and the PlayStation 4.

Announcing the release on the official U.S. PlayStation blog, game developer Psyonix revealed that the new title will have all the features that fans loved in the game's predecessor. It will still have dedicated servers, a huge number of customization options for the vehicles, and in-game secrets. In addition, the new title will also feature four-player splitscreen gameplay, as well as an eight-player online mode, an all-new Season mode, and crossplay functions between PC and PS4 gamers.

To celebrate the release of the title, Psyonix also made "Rocket League" part of the free titles list for PlayStation Plus members, and PS4 players will receive an exclusive vehicle, Sweet Tooth, from the car-battle classic title "Twisted Metal." In addition, players can also now join Ranked matches online right from the start.

Although the game has just been recently launched, the developer has already mapped out future expansions for the title. The very first DLC for the game, dubbed "Supersonic Fury," is already in its final development stages and will be out later this month. The expansion pack will introduce two new cars and other in-game items and rewards for players. In addition to new vehicles, it is also expected that the expansion will add a new map to the mix, which will be based on the classic "Utopia" arena from the first "Battle Cars" title. Psyonix also discussed that as with future map additions, the upcoming "Utopia" map download will be made free for "Rocket League" gamers.

Although the developer did not specify the date on when the first expansion pack will roll out, it is expected for the "Supersonic Fury" DLC to make its appearance toward the end of July.
