Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Ronda Rousey announced her engagement to Travis Browne, also an MMA competitor, on Saturday on social media site Instagram via a humorous image.

The Instagram photo is an edited image of Rousey, with a fierce expression, carrying Browne, who is wearing a wedding dress and holding a "Just Engaged" sign.

According to TMZ, Brown proposed to Rousey under a waterfall while they were vacationing in New Zealand. The two have confirmed they were dating since October 2015. In her interview with the entertainment website, where she showed off her engagement ring, Rousey said they have not identified the wedding date yet.

In 2016, Rousey admitted on "The Ellen Degeneres Show" that she was tempted to commit suicide after her surprise loss to Holly Holm in 2015. She said that it was her relationship with Browne that kept her from doing so.

"I looked up and I saw my man Travis [Browne] was standing up there, and I looked up at him and I was like, I need to have his babies I need to stay alive," she told Degeneres.

She continued, "I haven't told anybody that. I think I only told him that, but that was like what I was thinking. I was meant to have him when I was at my lowest for sure. I don't know if I would have made it without him."

MMA Mania said that it is still unclear if Rousey will be returning to the cage. UFC President Dana White previously said that while he and Rousey talk about once a week, the fighter did not say anything about making a comeback in the tournament. He indicated that Rousey wants to focus now on acting. She has held small roles in television and films, although she has not had one yet where she plays the starring role.

Fans cite her infamous total knockout loss within 48 seconds to Amanda Nunes in December 2015 as instrumental in her decision to step out of the MMA world.
