It wasn't too long ago that word about a Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm fight came out. In fact, the fight was expected to happen in 2016. To be exact, the Rousey vs. Holm fight was originally scheduled for Universal Fighting Championship (UFC) 195 in Las Vegas on Jan. 2, 2016.

However, it seems UFC president Dana White has had a slight change in plans, pushing the fight, which will take place at the Etihad Stadium in Australia, to an earlier date, Nov. 14.

This materialized after the original main event for UFC 193 featuring Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit had to be postponed on account of an injury (thumb) suffered by welterweight champion Lawler.

With uncertainty on the condition of Lawler, White had no other recourse but to turn to the women's division; and hence, the tiff was set. According to a report from Yahoo Sports, Rousey didn't see any problem in staging the fight several months earlier.

According to White, as posted by Yahoo Sports, Rousey told him, "I'll do whatever you need me to do."

White added, "So I laugh and I'm telling her how much I love that attitude and I'm going on and she stops me again and says, 'Hey, so what is up? What do you need?' She's incredible. In 15 years of doing this, I've never seen anyone remotely like this woman."

With only a couple of months to prepare, it will be interesting to see if Holm will also be ready to face the reigning UFC Women's champion. Known as the best striker, Holm aired her surprise when she was selected as Rousey's next opponent.

It will be recalled that after Rousey's triumph over Bethe Correia, the names of Miesha Tate and later on Cris 'Cyborg' Justino were tossed in the list of possible next opponents.

But it seems that White saw something different in Holm, allegedly the best striker in the division to date.

For Holm, she believes that her selection was part of a test to see how Rousey's new move, the standing knockout (KO), would fare against a striking Holm.
