Things usually get awkward when an ex-boyfriend or girlfriend shows up at a wedding, but, in the case of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's May 19 nuptials, two of the Prince's exes have reportedly been invited. Chelsy Davy, who dated Harry on-and-off for seven years, and Cressida Bonas, his girlfriend of two years, have been extended invitations to the ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Davy is a Zimbabwean national who met the Prince when she was still in law school. She admitted to The Times that she was not able to handle the strain of the Royal relationship well. "I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn't cope. I was young, I was trying to be a normal kid and it was horrible."

It seems that the same reasons were cited for the split between Prince Harry and Bonas, a British actress and model. The two were dating around the time when controversial photos of the Prince came out wherein he was seen playing naked billiards.

According to a report made by The Daily Mail, Harry has stayed friends with his two exes, and that his bride-to-be would not mind at all. The news outlet cites a friend of Harry's who had said that "he made sure there were no hard feelings when they split up. I don't think Meghan will mind."

However, it seems that Markle would mind if her ex-husband shows up, as it has also been reported that film producer Trevor Engelson's name is not on the official guest list. This might be due to the fact that Engelson is said to be producing a TV series about a divorcee who marries a member of the Royal Family.

The comedy series was apparently already purchased by Fox, and that the network is committed to seeing Engelson's vision come to life.

This latest development in the Royal Wedding may come as a surprise to most who are not aware that it is customary for the Royal Family to invite past paramours to their weddings. The same happened at Prince William and Kate Middleton's 2011 wedding, and it also famously happened during the wedding of Princess Diana, when Prince Charles invited Camilla Parker Bowles to their big day. Eventually, Parker Bowles' ex-husband Andrew also attended her wedding to Prince Charles.
