National Football League (NFL) star Russell Wilson, retail giant Amazon and the Why Not You Foundation teamed up to brighten the holidays of patients at the Seattle Children's Hospital. Wilson, together with his girlfriend Ciara, distributed hundreds of devices and gift cards to patients.

According to the Seattle Children's Hospital website, their visit truly touched the hearts of patients and they could not help but gush over the footballer's selfless gesture.

Joseph Thomas, 16, was one of those who were deeply touched by Wilson's visit. Thomas had been in the hospital since Thanksgiving due to a spinal cord injury that resulted from a car accident.

"I've been in a hospital bed for a long time," Joseph shared. "It was nice to get out of my room. I've spent a lot of time here."

What made Joseph's day was not really the gift Wilson distributed, but the football star's presence. "I just watched Russell Wilson play this weekend," said Joseph. "It was really nice and surreal to see him today. It's the thought that means the most. He really cares."

Of course, he could not help but get thrilled at the present Wilson gave him—a brand new Kindle. Being an avid reader, Joseph said the gadget is most special to him. "It's like he knew what I wanted," he gushed.

Amazon spokesperson Sam Kennedy is happy that Wilson and Ciara helped in cheering the patients of the hospital. "We really appreciate the opportunity to be a part of today and hope that the donations make the holidays a little brighter for some very deserving families and children," said Kennedy.

Meanwhile, netizens who learned of the football star's surprise visit showered him with praises. "This is truly awesome and what makes me proud to be a Hawks fan," Sharon Jerome wrote. "You guys make a huge difference in the lives of so many by the things you do for our community and state."

"Thank you for being such an outstanding role model for our youth, and thank you for making a difference in people's lives," Instagram user Charlotte Palumbo said.
