Despite all the fiasco surrounding the Sacramento Kings regarding head coach George Karl and All-Star big man DeMarcus Cousins, the franchise is doing a decent job this free agency and recently agreed to a deal to acquire center Kosta Koufos.

Koufos played for the Memphis Grizzlies last season, and although not much of a scorer, the Greek free agent is definitely a defensive presence in the paint.

ESPN's Marc Stein quoted sources as saying Koufos, 26, agreed to a four-year, $33-million deal which has a player option following the third year.

The seasoned center played in 81 games last season, averaging 5.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per outing.

Stein reported that after the Grizzlies reached a deal with power forward Brandan Wright, all signs pointed to Koufos' departure from Memphis.

The Kings have been involved in a number of issues in the past few weeks, including owner Vivek Ranadive's intention of firing Karl.

The recently-hired head coach was reportedly seeking to trade Cousins, 24, since his arrival to the team, but Ranadive has no plans of parting ways with the prized center.

Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari's name was also linked to the issue following reports that Sacramento wanted to hire the veteran collegiate mentor to replace Karl or hold a position in the team's front office.

Amid all the controversies, Kings vice president for basketball and franchise operations Vlade Divac has done a good job in this year's free agency, with Koufos as only the third addition to the Kings so far.

Sacramento already has agreements with top caliber players such as point guard Rajon Rondo and forward Marco Belinelli. Rondo agreed to a one-year  $9.5-million deal while Belinelli agreed to a three-year $19-million pact with the Kings.

Sacramento earlier targeted free agents Wesley Matthews and Monta Ellis but were unsuccessful in their pitches.
