Sadie Robertson joins cast of 'I'm Not Ashamed,' a movie on the life of a student slain because of her Christian faith

After her stint in the faith-based film "God's Not Dead 2," "Duck Dynasty" star Sadie Robertson seems to have caught the acting bug since she has joined the cast of "I'm Not Ashamed," a new film directed by Brian Baugh.

The movie follows the life of Rachel Joy Scott (played by Masey McLain), the first student killed in the Columbine High School massacre back on April 20, 1999. Scott was targeted because of her Christian faith. The convicted killers—Eric Harris and Dylan Kleboid—asked her moments before her death, "Do you still believe in your God?"

Even with a gun pointed at her head, Scott did not hesitate in her answer: "You know that I do."

Sadie will be portraying Scott's cousin Charity, the person responsible for introducing Scott to Jesus Christ. Her mother Korie also joined the cast as Charity's mother Aunt Bea.

The title of the film "I'm Not Ashamed" is actually taken from Scott's journal entry where she prayed, "Father, use my life to touch the world and let your light shine through me."

In another entry, Scott wrote, "I've always been drawn to hands. I think it's because it's the way we touch people. If one person could go out of their way to show compassion, it could start a chain reaction."

Benny Proffitt, executive producer of the film and founder of the youth organisation First Priority, told The Christian Post that they are happy to start a chain reaction for Scott in bringing people to God.

"Rachel wrote that she would one day touch the lives of millions, and we're honoured to help make this dream a reality," he said.

Aside from McLain and the Robertson ladies, other stars of the film include Ben Davies, Jennifer O'Neill, and Jaci Velasquez.

"I'm Not Ashamed" is set for U.S. release on Oct. 21.
