Former TV reality star Josh Duggar from "19 Kids and Counting" might be receiving criticism and mockery left and right after he himself admitted that he cheated on his wife Anna by using the adultery website Ashley Madison.
Nevertheless, at least he is getting the sympathy of "Duck Dynasty" star Sadie Robertson, who hopes that the beleaguered Duggar would be forgiven for his sins.
"It honestly makes me really sad that they're having to go through this, because it's one thing to go through it as a family, and it would be just as hard for them if they weren't in the limelight, but... everybody's talking about it, and that just adds that many more comments, that many more opinions. We've been there, it's hard," Sadie told PEOPLE.
Sadie was referring to the time when her grandfather Phil made very strong anti-gay comments during his interview with GQ magazine. Phil was suspended from the show temporarily, but the whole family backed him up, and eventually, he went back on the show.
"They almost cancelled 'Duck Dynasty' whenever my grandpa said the things that he said, and that would have been, in my opinion, not a very good decision, because that was putting one man's words in all of our mouths. Josh Duggar, that's not his whole family. His whole family didn't do that. He made a mistake," she said.
Sadie has formed a friendship with some of the Duggar girls, including Jana, Jinger, and Joy Anna, and she has even visited their home in Springdale, Arkansas, in the past. The girls certainly have a lot in common especially since they are all reality stars who are proud Christians. This was the reason why the "Live Original" teen's heart truly went out to the Duggars now that they are dealing with this difficult and sensitive issue.
"It's been kind of a secret for a long time, and everybody knows, when secrets come out, it's not fun," she said of Josh's shady accounts with Ashley Madison. "Secrets are hard. You shouldn't keep secrets. At this point it is what it is, and so they're just going to have to make the best out of it... if they can forgive him, it will all work out."
