Video game publisher Deep Silver recently announced that it will be shutting down the My Steelport feature from two of its games. Character and screenshot sharing will no longer be available in the video games "Saints Row III" and "Saints Row IV" after the end of January 2018.

Deep Silver made the announcement on Dec. 20 through "Saint Row's" official website. The company writes, "We have made the decision to close the My Steelport server. This means character and screenshot sharing services in Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV will no longer be available after January 31^st 2018."

The removal of the server also indicates that a couple of trophies and achievement for the video games for character and screenshot sharing will be disabled.

The publisher decided to shut down the server due to the minimal number of players utilizing the functionality. "The decision to switch off the servers was difficult for us and not taken lightly. We have experienced a significant reduction in the numbers of players using these services," Deep Silver adds.

The video game company also made a statement that it will utilize its resources for future plans and projects. Deep Silver, however, did not mention any upcoming video games in the coming years. The company writes, "We believe our resources are now better spend on preparing for the future! We'd like to thank everyone who has used and enjoyed the content sharing and community features on SaintsRow.com for their support."

"Saints Row III" was released back on Nov. 15, 2011 and "Saints Row IV" on Aug. 20, 2013. Both action-adventure video games received impressive reviews from video game critics and fans. The Third edition got a perfect score of 10 from Steam, and the fourth one received a 7.3 out of 10 score from IGN.

A number of fans are hoping for Deep Silver to bring out a new installment in the video game franchise.
