Not too long ago, there emerged reports claiming that Samsung is working on an 18.4-inch tablet. Now, word on the street is that the South Korea-based tech firm recently met up with select telecom operators in the region to test the enormous device. 

These operators include SK Telecom, LG U+, and KT. Reportedly, they were all informed of the coming of the outsized machine, which is up for mass production as early as next month. Android Headlines points out that Samsung must have successfully swayed the companies if it is really this close to manufacturing it. 

As per the abovementioned publication, Samsung envisions the 18.4-inch tablet as something versatile, as a home entertainment device and one that should provide tons of help for students as well as professionals and enterprise users. It is speculated to be a hit to graphic artists and animators, too. 

Details are scarce when it comes to the 18.4-inch tablet's specs. Apart from the size of the display, it is persistently suggested that it will render a 1920 × 1080 pixel resolution with a pixel density of only 120 ppi, which will make for poor visual quality in a device with such dimensions. 

The tablet is reportedly getting a Samsung Exynos 7580 processor for power along with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage space, and Samsung is allegedly going for a 5700 mAh battery. A prototype of the slate that popped up in a leaked import listing shows that it has Android 5.1 Lollipop on board. 

Based on the planned fourth quarter manufacturing period, media outlets surmise that the mammoth tablet could be ready for the public by the end of the year, or more likely at the start of next year with either the Consumer Electronics Show or the Mobile World Congress as the stage for its official unveiling.
