Samsung Android 5.0 Lollipop update roadmap includes Note 3, Note 2, Galaxy S5 Mini

Samsung Galaxy Note 2: One of the reported last-gen Samsung devices that can get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

There are several surprising inclusions in the list of Samsung smartphone devices that will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, including several products launched in 2012.

The information about Samsung's planned Android 5.0 Lollipop update was shared by the Finnish page of Samsung's website, which means that the source can be trusted. But some of the details posted in the site raised eyebrows because of its surprising content.

Based on the official website of the South Korean tech and consumer manufacturer, the recently released Samsung Galaxy Note 4 as well as its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 3, will get the expected operating systems update. However, gadget watchers were not expecting to see the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to be included in the list. This device was launched back in September 2012, which means that it was already past the two-year update support that Samsung normally gives to its products.

Also, a lot of people were surprised to find out the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini is one of the devices that is awaiting its Lollipop update, but the bigger, more high-end version Galaxy S5 has no update status as of the moment. The Galaxy S5 is one of the flagship smartphones that was released by the company this year, but other older versions like the Galaxy S4 seems to be getting the update ahead of its newer version.

The Galaxy S4 Lollipop update news could mean that the device will already have three operating system update all-in-all since its release. It was first given the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean then followed by Android 4.4 KitKat. Giving it the Lollipop update means that Samsung will not follow its policy of limiting up to two major updates per product line.

However, there are no official confirmations yet from the other pages of Samsung website if these updates will push through.
