Aside from the expected announcement of the next flagship the Galaxy Note 7, another lineup addition will be arriving soon, as photos of the 2016 edition of the Samsung Galaxy A8 are now making their rounds online.

With the specs sheet reportedly spotted on GFXBench, WCCFTech believes that the new iteration, although coming from an above-average Galaxy A series, will have flagship features and specs. Reportedly, the new Galaxy A8 2016 is run by an Exynos 7420 chipset, the same processor featured in the flagship Galaxy S6 series. This means that performance-wise, the new Galaxy A-series addition will run on flagship levels. The new chipset is paired with 3GB of RAM. Though the onboard storage is not listed, it is expected that the Galaxy A8 2016 will offer the same storage options as its predecessor.

As for its display, the new Galaxy A8 is listed as having a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display. This is interesting to note, since the previous iteration has a slightly larger 5.7-inch screen. Meanwhile, although the 2016 edition seems to have a smaller profile, the display is still expected to have full HD resolution. The listing itself remains unclear prior to Samsung's confirmation, since previous supposed leaks have said that the 2016 edition maintained a 5.7-inch display.

Other purported specs include a 16MP main shooter at the back with 1080p video recording support, and a 5MP selfie camera. The new iteration is said to come out with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 right out of the box.

Since the Galaxy A-series is one of the above-average lineups for Samsung, it is expected that the new 2016 Galaxy A8 will carry a budget-friendly price tag, possibly around $200. Meanwhile, as for its release date, it may come out later this month, as this is also the same period that the previous Galaxy A8 was announced last year.
