The latest phones in Samsung's A series have just been revealed. Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8 Plus are expected to be available in the market next year.

The phones will be almost identical, except for their size. As indicated by their names, the A8 Plus will be slightly bigger than the regular A8. The latter will have a 5.6-inch screen, while the Plus will have a 6.0-inch screen. Both will be sporting active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) Infinity displays, with an 18: 5.9-pixel ratio.

Both phones will have a 16-megapixel (16 MP) rear camera with a F/1.7 aperture. But perhaps more interesting is the dual cameras on the front— unusual as dual cameras tend to be placed in the rear of the phone.

The dual front cameras are rated 8 MP and 16 MP with an F/1.9 aperture. According to The Verge, these dual front cameras will enable users to take different types of selfies. Close-ups and portrait shots on clear backgrounds will be available. The phone will also ship with Live Focus, a feature that will let users adjust the "bokeh" effect before or after taking a picture.

A fingerprint scanner is located just below the device's rear camera.

The Galaxy A8 will have 4 GB of random access memory (RAM), while Galaxy A8 Plus buyers will have a choice between 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM. There is also an option between 32 GB and 64 GB of internal storage space for both models, and these are expandable up to 256 GB with the use of a micro SD card.

The Galaxy A8 devices will be dust- and water-resistant.

Both will also be compatible for use with Samsung Pay. Also, the Galaxy A8 are the first devices in the A series that support the Gear VR, a mobile virtual reality headset manufactured by Samsung itself.
