While South Korea-based Samsung has not yet confirmed the details, it has already been rumored that there will be an upcoming continuation to the Galaxy A-series. Fresh from the release of the Galaxy A8, fans may expect its next iteration, the Galaxy A9, sometime soon.

A report early this year by industry follower and Samsung insider SamMobile indicated that along with the A6 and A8 (which was released last August) device names, the company also applied for a trademark for the Galaxy A9 name. Apparently, this was already an indication that Samsung plans to continue the A-series lineup.

In October, SamMobile also discovered a leaked AnTuTu benchmark result that apparently listed the upcoming A9's specs. According to the benchmark image, the Galaxy A9 will come out with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD resolution, a Snapdragon 620 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal storage. The A9 will also reportedly be released with Android 5.1.1 version onboard. Since Samsung has yet to come out with its own Android 6.0 Marshmallow build, the Lollipop version right out of the box for the A9 seems to be appropriate.

Meanwhile, known Samsung info leaker Samsung Viet (via Softpedia) reported that aside from the A9, the A-series will also be expanded with new editions of the Galaxy A3 and A5. In what were supposed to be leaked images of the devices, the Galaxy A3 and A5 have been redesigned to resemble closely the premium flagships of Samsung, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5. According to the website, this might mean that one of the things that Samsung plans to realign in the upcoming releases is to at least standardize the look and design (to some degree) of its premium and midrange phones.
