While fans of South Korea-based Samsung are eagerly waiting for the release of the Galaxy S7, it seems that the tech manufacturer still has some surprises up its sleeve. According to recent speculations, Samsung might be developing another addition to its Galaxy A series. Reportedly, fans might see a Galaxy A9 Pro.

According to SamMobile, Samsung's refreshed Galaxy A lineup will add one more variant. Apart from the 2016 editions of the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, and Galaxy A7, the Galaxy A9 will have two iterations – the base model and a Galaxy A9 Pro variant, the report said.

The industry follower mentioned that the "Galaxy A9 Pro" name is only a tag and might launch with another name. Meanwhile, the new iteration reportedly carries the model number SM-A9100 slated to appear in the Chinese market. There is still no indication if the supposed second Galaxy A9 variant (the base model Galaxy A9 has an SM-A9000 model number) will be released in the global market.

SlashGear reported that while there is still no word on how the so-called Galaxy A9 Pro will be different from the base model, the tech specs of the original Galaxy A9 could offer some clues. The base model is in the phablet category, featuring a 6-inch HD display. It also carries a Snapdragon 652 processor, 3 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal storage. It is said that one of the main selling points of the Galaxy A9 is in its prolonged usage, having a big 4,000-mAh battery.

Should the new iteration be the "Pro" version of the Galaxy A9, the industry follower predicted that fans might expect a better display (such as a QHD screen), or upgraded RAM and storage options.
