Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ have been released recently and Samsung fans believe it will not be long before the South Korean mobile company release new handsets for this year. One of the new phones rumored to be unveiled this year is the J6 of the Samsung Galaxy J-series. There is now a reason to believe that the new phone exists: Geekbench, a cross-platform benchmark that measures a hardware's performance, released an entry on Feb. 24 about Samsung Galaxy J6 and its specs, which include Android 8.0 Oreo and an octa-core system on chip (SoC).

According to Geekbench's entry, that upcoming phone's model number is SM-J600F. Samsung Galaxy J6 will support Android 8.0 Oreo for its operating system. Gadgets 360 of NDTV India reported that the phone will be powered by Exynos 7870 octa-core SoC running with a base frequency of 1.59 Gigahertz (GHz).

The rumored phone got a single-core performance score of 726 and a multicore performance score of 3643. Geekbench scores can be interpreted by looking at the figures — the higher the scores are, the better the performance of a platform is. The Nokia 7 Plus, in the entry, also has about 2 GB random-access memory (RAM). The possible size of the phone display was not in the entry, although one can suspect that it may be of the same size as its predecessors.

Another phone from the series, Samsung Galaxy J8, was seen on the benchmarking site last month with the model number SM-J720F. It was rumored to have Android 8.0 Oreo for its operating system and Exynos 7885 octa-core SoC running with a base frequency of 1.6 GHz for its processor. The rumored Samsung Galaxy J8 got a single-core performance score of 1201 and a multicore performance score of 4122.

It is important to point out that while Geekbench is not an official source of information about the existence of rumored phones, the software has been used for years to measure and analyze the performance of mobile platforms. The entries gave weight to the possibility of the existence of the said phones. Nevertheless, Samsung Galaxy J6, as well as Samsung Galaxy J8, and their respective specs are still rumors until an official statement from Samsung proves otherwise.
