Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 release date: stellar specs expected

Samsung is looking to refresh the rest of its famous J lineup after all. Just recently, a new version of the Samsung Galaxy J7 showed itself online in the form of some precious data uncovered from a kernel source.

In a kernel source published of late, a GSM Arena reader spotted and alerted the publication of the presence of the code "j7xlte" tucked in the source. It is believed to be the codename of the 2016 version of the aforementioned device.

This code also leads to a bunch of information regarding the specs of the Samsung Galaxy J7 2016, which mostly reflect specs sheet details that surfaced from the handset's recent appearance in a GFX Bench benchmark test.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 was revealed to sport a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. Running the show is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor (formerly referred to as Snapdragon 615).

In the camera department, users are looking at a13-MP rear-facing shooter, which apparently uses a Samsung S5K3L2XX sensor. On the front, there should be a 5-MP front-facing snapper with a Samsung S5K5E3YX sensor, 1.1um pixels, and 23mm f/2.2 lens.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 is also listed to sport a massive 4,300-mAh battery, which should help the device last longer hours of usage. There also appears to be fingerprint sensor, an exciting upgrade for a midrange device.

There's no mention of the amount of RAM and storage although the GFX Bench listing that popped up not too long ago claim it will get 3 GB RAM and 16 GB native storage, which can be expanded with a micro SD card.

A release date is not locked in yet. Samsung Galaxy J7 2016's predecessor was launched in July last year but with the new-gen edition of the Samsung Galaxy J1 already here, it would not be a surprise if its big brother as well as the J5 2016 show up soon.
