South Korean smartphone giant Samsung will be extending its Galaxy J lineup, which will be including the likes of Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7. According to the specifications table present on GSMArena, Galaxy J7 is expected to be announced during Q2, 2015. The handset will belong to the company's phablet lineup of smartphones since it features a 5.5 inch display that renders a resolution of 720p.

Surprisingly, the mobile chipset present inside the smartphone does not belong to Samsung or Qualcomm; it belongs to Marvel. Marvel PXA1936 is present underneath the hood of the smartphone, with an octa-core processor running at a clock speed of 1.2 GHz. Details are currently not available as to which company the processor belongs to. In addition, Galaxy J7 also features 1.5 GB of RAM, and will be available to purchase in the 4 or 8 GB internal storage variants.

Good news for consumers will be that despite the low internal storage count, consumers will still be able to expand their storage up to a limit of 64 GB. A 13 megapixel rear camera is present and is going to be complemented by a 5 MP front camera sensor. Though Galaxy J7 is expected to feature an LTE modem; information concerning which Category type that modem will belong to is currently unavailable.

Thanks to its phablet sized form factor, the smartphone will be equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery. Android Lollipop 5.1 will most likely be running in Galaxy J7, which is the same update that will be running in the company's Galaxy J5.

No exact release date of the smartphone has been given, other than the fact that it will be announced during Q2, 2015. While Samsung does have an edge in the high-end smartphone market, the company's supremacy is still being challenged in the affordable smartphone market.
