While some devices are already running the new Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, various sources claim that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge are set to receive the update early next year.

According to French telecommunications company SFR, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be the first in line to get the sweet taste of the Android mobile software. The OS is reportedly rolling out in some parts of Europe, specifically in Poland, to international variants of the device. However, there is no confirmation yet as to when the software will be available worldwide.

Meanwhile, Samsung's phablets, Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge, are bound to receive the update in January. Other Samsung smartphones like Galaxy S4 and Note 3 are also reported to receive the update next year. A Samsung spokesperson said that the company is still in the process of reviewing the stability of the operating system in order for consumers to get the best experience from their handsets. In the past, Samsung has been on the tail end when it comes to releasing Android updates, disappointing some users. It seems, however, that the company upped their game and will offer the latest update quite on time.

Google is currently rolling out the Android 5.0.1 OS update to Nexus and Google Play Edition devices. It is unclear if Samsung will roll out this version of the mobile OS.

The latest operating system from Google's Android boasts a new user interface dubbed as Material Design. It also offers better notification, multi-tasking, security, and sharing features. Previous reports said that it will also feature a new "priority" function that will enable users to filter incoming calls. This is beneficial when users are trying to minimize distraction from too many callers.
